The tail piece is made of the same exotic hardwood used for the finger board and finger rest. The dimensions of the tailpiece are carefully chosen so that the strings between the bridge and tail piece vibrate at approximately the 5th partial, that is two octaves and a fifth above the open string. This is a standard common in violin family instruments for balancing string tension over the bridge, and optimizing tone. Making the tailpiece float unrestrained by a hinge is another way to enhance the cross and long dipole movement of the top and bridge.

The tail piece is attached with a Spectra cord that is strong and has very little stretch. It is supported by a violin style tail piece nut made from the same hardwood. The cord is anchored by a two groove end pin jack button, which will also accommodate a strap.

The strings are fitted into cavities in the top surface, and emerge from the center of the bridge end of the tail piece.

The string tension follows a straight line from the tail piece nut to the bridge saddle, right through the center of the tailpiece.

String changes (one at a time) are easy and positioning of the ball ends is obvious.
